From 2016-2019 we used the US exchangeable (grey) canisters.
From 2019 on we increased the convenience of testing and traveling with the U.S. refillable canister (blue).
And as a second option from 2022 we also have the industry's first US Carbon Canister.
It is important to note any Arva canister will work with any Reactor system. And at this time any exchanges of the grey canister should be done by mail-in contacting us at service@arvaequipment.com.
The Reactor system canisters are made with high-quality materials and are designed to withstand over 300 bars (4351 psi) of internal pressure. They are also stable at temperature and elevation and require little to no maintenance for storage and security.
The inflation system has been designed to offer a compact and lightweight product (790g), while optimizing performance in real life situations. All these innovations have been the subject of 3 patent applications. It is possible to detach the REACTOR system from the backpack and transfer it to another REACTOR compatible bag.
The airbag system is the new standard in safety equipment, allowing a person to stay above in event of an avalanche. It is meant to be an aid to one's safety with use of a beacon, probe, and shovel, and not a reason to take additional risk in the backcountry. The primary function is to increase a victim's volume (buoyancy) by inflating an airbag around the backpack. The system is equipped with a simple lockable/rotating handle, that when pulled for deployment, fills the airbag in just a few seconds. The airbag is brought to the surface of the snow based on the physical phenomenon "reverse segregation" which consists of pushing up (lift) lighter volumes among a multitude of moving particles.
Activating your airbag pack in an avalanche emergency is simple, as it should be. We have designed the handle to be in the ideal position for a quick reach and natural diagonal pull, this is a key design element as our research indicates nearly half of avalanche victims that deployed airbags were already moving with the snow when they activated their system. Another benefit to our system is the capability to "dry-fire" practice pull and reset the pin with the included reset tool. We recommend to do this a few times because it is the same muscle memory and tension, regardless if the canister is in or not. In the event of a deployment with the gas canister loaded the pin is automatically reset.
